Nature takes her time

View of Clingendael forest in the autumn, yellow toned leaves falling down on a small stream, peaceful quiet moment, natures rest.

Leaves are falling down on me as I quietly stare into the forest

They float down in spirals until they touch the forest floor. The vibrant colours feel almost unreal: deep reds, fiery orange and dark copper. They’re painting a beautiful picture in front of me. Every autumn I'm amazed by the sudden changes of the natural world. How one morning the light feels softer, the air cooler and the shadows longer.

It’s no wonder this season is loved by so many. The sun still warm, the colours vivid… yet there is already a calmness in the air. Like the forest is ready for another season. Little mushrooms popping up between the thick layer of coloured leaves. Squirrels hopping around gathering nuts and seeds for the winter to come. All around you will find the signs that the colder months are just around the corner.

I‘ve always loved these in between moments. There is something special to witness how nature adjust. Slowly, over days and weeks, you will notice more and more that the season comes to an end and another one begins. Nothing rushed, everything moves in its own time. The trees release their leaves, returning to a place of rest before new buds swell in spring. They are not in a hurry, bit simply follow the cycle. Nothing blooms all year and nothing hurries toward growth.

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.
— Lao Tzu

And somehow, we humans try to outrun this rhythm. We keep going, no matter the season we’re in, as if we’re separate from the world we walk through. But we’re not. Our energy peaks in summer and now in autumn, it naturally wants to soften, to slow down. We’ve simply forgotten how to do this. To live with the seasons and trust the timing. Knowing that each season has its purpose. Growth, expression, release & rest. They are all essential, not one more important than the other.

These are the seasonal energies

A gentle guide to remember our own rhythms

Spring — The rising spark. Ideas waking, curiosity stirring, the first brave steps toward something new.
Summer — The peak of expression. Doing, creating, sharing, moving outward with warmth and confidence.
Autumn — The turning inward. Gathering what matters, releasing what doesn’t, preparing the inner ground.
Winter — The deep rest. Quiet restoration, reflection, dreaming beneath the surface.

Let us adjust to the season we are in

Autumn is the season of release. The moment between holding and letting go. In nature, everything begins to turn inward. Trees take their energy back to their roots. Plants drop their seeds into the soil. There’s no resistance, letting go is part of staying alive.

For us as well. This season is an invitation to release. To let go of the ideas that no longer fit, the habits that have lost their meaning & the rush that keeps us from feeling. We are meant to follow the same rhythm: to slow down & to reflect. It’s a time to simplify. To return to the essentials.

Begin small

  • Let your days be a little less full

  • Take walks without purpose, just observe

  • Nourishes yourself with self care and healthy food

  • Write down what you want to leave behind

This season invites you to land gently in yourself.

Love, FINNA
